BookCrossing.com is a labor of love that was conceived and is maintained by Humankind Systems, Inc., a software and internet development company with offices in Kansas City, Missouri, and Sandpoint, Idaho. Looking for a break from the doldrums of creating yet another e-commerce website (that's just what the world needs), or email server application (oooh, those are doubly exciting), Humankind partner Ron Hornbaker sought to create a community site that would be the first of its kind, that would give back to the world at large, and that would provide warm fuzzy feelings whenever he worked on it. Seedmagazine.com aims to provide our readers with the most relevant, insightful and entertaining original science content on the web. Updated 6 days a week, our site includes everything from breaking news and in-depth features to columns and reviews, including articles from Seed Magazine (subscribe). While our library includes the usual magazine fare, we also embrace the potential of the web to cross media boundaries by delivering podcasts, slideshows and a growing pool of video content. In addition to original content, we are always looking outside ourselves toward the greater global science conversation. We interact with our sister site, ScienceBlogs, and other science media and entertainment sites through our Daily Zeitgeist and other regular features. Seedmagazine.com is the primary online presence of Seed Media Group—publishers of Seed Magazine—and is part of the Seed Digital Network, which also includes ScienceBlogs.com and Phylotaxis.com. Our overarching goal is the nurturing of a science-savvy global citizenry by increasing public interest in and understanding of science.
